Swatching is a topic that often divides knitters: when should you swatch? Pru argues there’s no need to knit a swatch…you can always frog it, right? Or gift it to a friend who will hand wash it and dry it flat in the shade every time.

Pru Raymond’s SALA Festival Exhibition at Yarn Trader challenges the viewers to consider knitting as an art form. The knitter is driven by the same urge to create as any painter, sculptor or ceramicist.
Knitting is a form of craftivism, a gentle rebellion against consumerism. Pru Raymond’s Knitting for Zero Waste Living series at Charles Sturt’s 19 on Green centre was designed to empower knitters to make sustainable choices, and opt out of a throwaway lifestyle.
My exhibition, A Woman’s Work is Never (Un)Done, supported by Yarn Trader and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield runs 20-27 August 2022. There are a couple of workshops, a social event and a 4 day knitting marathon/ artist demonstration/ open studio/ performance art.
